|2005 Syrah, Napa Valley|

We had a very wet winter in 2005. March turned warm and dry with no worries over frost. The rain storms resumed, at times very heavy, continuing well into spring. The weather settled into a somewhat cool summer, with some unseasonable rain in June. We had some heat spikes in September, which helped the grapes mature. We harvested 4 tons per acre in our second harvest year.
Deep ruby in the glass, this is a delicious wine. There is an earthiness on the nose, along with black cherry and hints of eucalyptus. The palate opens with flavors of sour cherry, berries, and a hint of pepper. The structure is excellent, with soft tannins and well balanced acidity.
The 2005 Syrah can be enjoyed with cheeses, or paired with a wide variety of foods, from lighter dishes like pastas and fish, to more robust entrees, or anything off the barbeque.
The wine is wonderful now, it will continue to benefit from aging for another 5-10 years.$22 PER BOTTLE
